Did you know?

Thermal imaging is used in the care of animals at Flamingo Land Resort, home to the UK’s favourite theme park and conservation zoo near York.

Caring for wild animals in a zoo requires huge investment to ensure maximum standards in animal welfare. At Flamingo Land Resort, thermal imaging is used to detect injuries, which appear as warm, red spots (as seen in this lion’s leg). The role of science at Flamingo Land also extends to evaluating education, assessing exhibit design and monitoring the success of field conservation work.
