York Science & Innovation Grand Tour May - Sept 2012

Sponsored by Aviva

To help inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators, we’ve teamed up with Biz-Ed Projects Limited to create tours geared around school activities and links to the national curriculum.

A great resource for parents too, the Teachers’ Pack is aimed at KS2 and KS3 students, and takes in some of the most captivating images and stories in three different walking trails around the Tour. Each Trail contains 12 -14 images and could take from an hour and a half to two and a half hours. The Pack is accompanied by a map containing the three Trails.

You can download a pdf version of the 3 Trails and the Teacher Information here.
Your students can take on the role of ’Science and Innovation Detectives’ as they move around each Trail. Using ‘Science Detectives Investigation Sheets’, they search for the answer to a question and follow clues to lead them on to the next Exhibit. The Questions and Answers are found in the Teachers pack.

“The York Science and Innovation Grand Tour is intended to encourage and inspire young people to think about careers in science and technology, which can be both stimulating and rewarding. You will see many examples of York people who have made discoveries and inventions of world-wide importance and there has never been a better time for you, too, to work in the fascinating and challenging world of science.”

Prof Tony Robards – Chairman, York Science and Innovation Grand Tour.
